Japan's first geothermal power-generation to the present and to the future
In these early years of the 21st century, to improve living standards for everyone, we need to understand that the Earth's resources are finite and to use sources of energy more effectively. As one of the largest energy-importing nations, and as one of the energy-guzzling advanced nations, Japan is called upon to reduce its heavy dependence on fossil fuels and also to work hard on global environmental issues.
Having been a pioneer in geothermal energy development in Japan, JMC offers a broad range of services related to geothermal generation and utilization of geothermal energy, including investigations and consulting.

The Power Group
Our own generation facilities supply power to every facility in the compound of the Plant.

The Geothermal Energy Group
Four highlights of this Group:Technological strengths accumulated since the success of Japan's first geothermal power generation on a commercial scale (1966).
Broad experience in the investigation and development of geothermal energy, hot springs, heat utilization, etc. in Japan and elsewhere in the world.
Provision of advanced consulting, in conjunction with JMC's other technical sections, and conduct of research and development.
Provision of high-caliber planning and management services for various projects, based on JMC's own experience in energy-development project management and R&D project management.

Steam of the Matsukawa production well No. 1. Japan?s first production well that succeeded in steam production in 1964. It was ascertained that steam here alone could generate 6000kW of electricity, a finding that stimulated geothermal development in Japan.
